FAQs

Q: What storage and organizing tools do you recommend that I get in order to begin to work on organizing my home?

A: None…yet! Begin by decluttering your spaces. You may find that you don’t need to rush out and buy anything once you have pared down your stuff. In fact, you may have extra plastic bins, etc., left over once you have decluttered for a while!

Q: Do I have to go out and buy lots of organizing materials like plastic bins, etc?

A: No, don’t run out and buy organizing products before you begin to organize! With the help of a professional organizer, you can probably pare down your belongings enough to fit into containers that you already have. (In fact, you may have bins left over after you are through!) If you do need some organizational supplies, your organizer will be able to advise you what will work best for you.

Q: I am embarrassed about the state of my home / my office. Will the organizer tease me or think less of me because of my mess?

A: Everybody has some clutter; it is a part of our daily lives. Your organizer has probably seen situations like yours – or worse. The organizer is there to help, not to judge. We will work together as a team to develop systems for organizing your belongings so that they won’t hold you back from living a fulfilling life.

Q: In today’s economy, why should I consider hiring an organizer when money is so tight and jobs are insecure?

A: Actually, your disorganization is probably costing you money! Think of the late fees you have paid because you didn’t pay bills on time, the many times you bought duplicates of products because you couldn’t find the ones you already had (or couldn’t remember if you had them), the cash (or uncashed checks) hiding in your home because you misplaced it, or the monthly fees you pay to rent storage space for extra stuff that you aren’t using. As your organizer helps you regain control of your papers, your bills, your spaces and your time you will stop spending money needlessly on fees and duplicate purchases. You may even find some cash or be able to make money from items you already own!

Q: I have tried many times before to get organized, but nothing has worked in the long run for me. Why should I expect it to get any better if I work with a professional organizer?

A:Your organizer will help you define places for everything in your home or office and put systems in place. Once you know where things “live”, it will be easier to maintain order. Also, your organizer will train you to look at your spaces in a different way. You will learn routines that will gradually help being organized become a lifestyle for you!
